PDP’s Favorite Modifications for 2011-2016 GMC / Chevrolet LML Duramax

Since its’ release in 2011, the LML Duramax offered 397/765 hp/torque vs its predecessor only offering 365/660 hp/torque. GM fanatics crazed over this new engine setup. One caveat– LML was unfortunately paired with a Bosch CP4 fuel pump which proved to be an inevitably failing relationship. Owners quickly realized failing CP4 pumps were a result of natural phenomenon and fuel contamination resulting in entire fuel system replacements that proved extremely costly.

Luckily, the experts at Platinum Diesel Parts are here to offer a couple solutions. One considered a “band-aid” while the other a permanent.

Airdog lift pump

Fleece CP3 conversion

Airdog lift pump

An essential addition to any Duramax model from 2001 – 2016—especially crucial for 2011 – 2016 Duramaxes that are equipped with the problematic CP4. Unlike Ford and Dodge, the GM diesels do not use any type of factory electric lift pump, thus straining the CP4. The added stress presumably shortens the length of life of the dreaded CP4. Adding a lift pump to assist in fuel delivery to the CP4 is believed to maximize the life of the pump. Afterall, who would say no to additional filtration and water separation that the Airdog offers.

Fleece CP3 conversion

If you are looking for a significant fuel pressure upgrade, increase in pump reliability, and overall value of your truck, this is the mod we recommend to all clients. Don’t let a failing CP4 pump be the cause of leaving you stranded on the side of the road. Fleece CP3 conversions utilize a factory LBZ pump, nothing remanned here for maximum reliability. When other diesel owners ask if you are worried about your CP4 shelling, you quickly reply with a scoff and proudly say you are CP3 swapped. This is truly the end all be all solution for LML Duramax’s.
